Stitched on a ground of Very Vintage Pheasant Feathers, a beloved, vivd motif handwoven by Greentree Weaving, this is a snapshot of lakeside life. From the carp jumping after its winged prey and the frog amongst the cattails, eyeing that moth, to the Redwing Blackbird calling atop them; from the turtles and snail at the foot of the willow to the ducklings swimming behind mama; the owl, the hawk, the heron see it all from their lofty heights. The backing is a beautiful black batik with dandelions and dragonflies, echoing the theme. The stitching is done in two colors of thread in order to stand out against both the lighter and darker portions of the fabric, with some areas being overstitched in both the cream and the olive thread for added depth: my own design free-hand embroidered on my straight-stitch industial sewing machine.

As the material is 100% preshrunk cotton, laundering is easy, should it become necessary. Machine wash warm and line or tumble dry gentle.
